On the first day of Russia’s military operations in Ukraine, the richest Russian businessmen lost 39 billion dollars. This is more than their losses in the first months of 2022. According to Bloomberg, the biggest loss belonged to the president of LUKOIL company Vahid Alakbarov, originally from Azerbaijan, the head of the board of Severstal company Alexei Mordashov, and the president of Norilsk Nickel company, Vladimir Potanin.
Losses of billionaires:
- Vahid Alakbarov – $ 6.2 billion. His fortune fell to $ 13 billion.
- Alexei Mordashov – $ 4.2 billion. His fortune fell to $ 23 billion.
- Vladimir Potanin – $ 3 billion. His fortune fell to $ 26.1 billion.
It is noted that the Russian stock market experienced the biggest collapse in history against the background of Russia’s launch of a “special military operation” in Ukraine on February 24. The Moscow Stock Exchange index fell 33%, and the ruble lost a record value against the dollar.
