The meeting of the commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan on state border delimitation will take place on May 16-17 in Moscow, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told press following his meeting with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov yesterday in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
We talked with our Azerbaijani colleagues on the issue of creating commissions for delimitation and border security. There is an agreement with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Overchuk that they are going to meet on communications in Moscow on May 16-17, and there, on the same days, there will be a bilateral meeting on delimitation and border security.
Ararat Mirzoyan
The border commissions’ meeting will mark the first time since the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to create the commissions in Brussels meeting on April 5, mediated by the European Council President Charles Michel.
Following the trilateral meeting of Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Foreign Ministers in Dushanbe on May 13, the Russian Foreign Ministry also touched upon the border delimitation issue in its statement, promising Russia’s support.
Progress was noted in the implementation of trilateral agreements in key areas, including the unblocking of economic and transport ties in the region, as well as efforts to launch the process of delimitation and subsequent demarcation of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border with the advisory assistance of Russia at the request of the parties.
